View Full Version : Second smoke in the 1400 was the bomb

Did the second smoke in the 1400. Rubbed the shoulder with smokinpetes run. Added a few extra spices. Up at 2am to put the shoulder on. Used 3 oz of hickory chunks. Shoulder reached 197 at 3:30. Wrapped in foil and a towel and placed in a cooler for an hour. Pulled at 4:30. It was so tender it just feel apart.;) Everyone said it was some of the best pulled pork they had ever had. The 1400 is a keeper. Can't wait to do some ribs and brisket.

Sodaking27, Congrats on what sounds like a great smoke! I've got an 8 pounder in a cooler behind me waiting for the "Rest" hour, then going to pull it for dinner in a couple days in Canada.

Be careful....Smokers and good food are like crack....HIGHLY addictive...
