Hey guys grilling some steaks tonight. Does anyone have a magic formula for throwing them in the smoker for a bit and finishing on the grill?? Thanks..

I'd be tempted to treat 'em like you would smoke cheese.Room temp steaks, smoker @ 150*, 15 minutes then shut it off for half an hour to 45 minutes, then remove and go to the grill.

Steeleydan....try smoking them at 225 for 30min and throw them on the grill.
I don't do steaks on the ST.

Billy Bob steaks turned out amazing! Did 225 for 30 "cherry wood chips" then seared on my on my grill at 650 2mins per side. Friends and wife said it was the best steak they have ever had:cool:. Thanks for the tip!

Im new to the ST world and have been experimenting a bit. We did ribeye the other night. I got a few mesquite chips out of the wood pile maybe 2 oz. Turned the smoker to 250 and let it getting smoking good. Waited maybe 15 min. I put the steaks in the 1400 for 10 min. I threw them on a 650 degree grill for 2 min a side and they were amazing. Probably some of the best steak I ever had. Moist tender and wonderful smoke flavor. My wife ate so much she thought she was going to explode.

This question is for any of you, or all of you!

Did anyone season their steak before smoking? After smoking, but before grilling?

I like to make a simple rub for my ribeye's, kosher salt, black pepper, and granulated garlic. Nothing special, but adds a little something special.

OK to add for smoking steaks?

I put it on before smoking....you use the same thing I do!!!
