Got a friend that has access to fresh beans and wondered if anyone here has tried either to roast beans in their ST or take like a medium roast bean and give it a cold plate smoke with something mild like maple or apple.

She can get a limited quantity somewhere between cheap and free, so I think it's worth a try. Anyone here been there, or am I going to operate in "Star Trek" mode, boldly going where no man has gone before.....

I mean, really, you're talking here to someone who actually smoked Spam, so.........

Bet it was hard to keep lit
Seriously, this is an interesting idea. What is the proper "roasting" temp. for raw coffee beans?
And don't they get stirred, as it where during the roasting process ?
That said, we'll never know if you don't try it.

They're going to come "pre-roasted" to a medium roast. Roasting is about 450 degrees. All I'm going to do is essentially cold smoke them to add a smoky flavor. Think about coffee made over a campfire.
