    Default Perfect Jerky Slices!

For all jerky aficionados out there.

Stumbled across another product that is a great companion for the SmokinTex. While wandering around in Cabelas recently, they had a manual crank Jerky Slicer for $99, which might have been a sale price. It looked interesting, so I picked one up.

When you cut the meat, simply do it in roughly 5 inch by 1 to 1.5 inch slabs, with the grain running the long way of course. The length of the slab will determine the length of your jerky. Then run the slab through the cutter (not your fingers!!) and turn the crack. Voila! Perfect 1" wide by 1/4" thick slices. By having identical thickness, drying times are much more uniform. With this slicer I can prepare 10 lbs of slices in 5 minutes. Cleanup is fairly easy, be careful with the blades, they are VERY sharp.

Problem with Jerky is it doesn't last very long around our house, it is eaten!!

If you do get one, I hope you enjoy the slicer as much as we do. Such a pleasure to use, you will wind up making more jerky!

    Great idea, Dan!
