Since I am new to smoking, I was just wondering if $2.49/2lb. bag is a good price for wood? I bought six bags of assorted wood chips today from World Market the store chain.

Just got my 1400 and hot-smoked some salmon steaks, which were great.
I have used other smokers before, and have a big supply of chips. Can I put them in the wood chamber tightly wrapped in aluminum foil?
Thanks-Steve aka "hacorb"
No need to foil wrap. Just put 'em right in the smokebox, and put 'em in dry.
Smoke on!
Many thanks for the advice.
I noticed the recommendations for wood "chunks", are the small wood chips not recommended, if so, why?
Bwalk76....you can use either....I prefer the wood chunks as they will last longer. Also, try adding a couple of charcoal brickets to the box along with the wood...it will assist with your smoke ring.
