    Default 1400 Rib capacity

    Hello,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a SmokinTex to replace my broken-down Masterbuilt. In my 5 years of smoking, I've never measured the length of a raw rack of ribs. I'm leaning toward the 1400, but am a little worried about the interior dimensions (14.5 x 14.5).

Can anyone comment on the max capacity of the 1400. I'm inclined to think that I wont have a problem smoking 8 at a time using 4 racks.

    thank you for your comments.

You should be ok. The racks of ribs I usually buy (baby backs from Costco) can be a little long. I simply cut the racks of ribs in half and they easily fit.

Love the ease of my SmokinTex.... set it and forget it (almost).

You will not regret your decision. And when you do buy, we are here to answer and discuss all you want.

I agree with DReeves. Most spare ribs are what, 12" to 15" even 16" long and baby backs about the same, though we know not nearly so wide.
So I say just cut 'em in half.
An even better solution is bite the bullet and get the 1500.
    I wish that's what I would've done.

I was going to say the same..... I cooked with a 1400 for 8 years. Sold it to a friend, then bought a 1500
